Detroit pays tribute to MJ /by now you're likely sick of hearing about this
Escaped to Detroit this weekend. This was the scene at Hitsville USA. Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records, supervised the Jackson 5 and (according to the Motown Museum website)
"...helped turn them into overnight superstars with a non-stop series of smashes that commenced in 1969 with the unstoppable “I Want You Back” (written by Gordy and three collaborators under the imposing handle of The Corporation) and continued with the equally relentless “ABC” and “The Love You Save” the following year.....

"...All 17 of the J5's non-Yuletide singles for Motown placed in the R&B Top Ten, and they even had their own cartoon series on ABC-TV–an honor previously bestowed on the Beatles. They departed Motown in 1976 except for Jermaine, who had married Berry’s daughter, their superstardom universally recognized thanks to their astonishing run at Motown"

blank
Can't explain why I haven't been inclined to post lately. Feeling completely vapid these days. Maybe fashion's finally taking its toll?
I picked this up at the Trinity Bellwoods Garage Sale last week. I'm going to hang it over my desk at Fashion Television.

Hmmmm.... potential new blog title? A recurring segment for sure.

Hughes the Temp
Alex just got a temp receptionist job. Coincidentally, I picked up a VHS copy of Clockwatchers at a garage sale last weekend. It's the 1997 "critically acclaimed gal-pal romp about four office temps trying to maintain both their sanity and upward mobility." How did I not know about this Parker Posey movie? Wanna know more?

What's your currency?

Why do people value you as a friend?
What do YOU bring to the table?
What makes your girlfriend or boyfriend (or mother or best bud) cast aside your shit and stick with you?
Have you ever stopped to consider your currency ?
What do you give to those who mean the most?
Do you think maybe they're not deserving of what you offer because you're not getting back?
Do you feel cheated yet continue to give because love isn't quantifiable... its not about give-and- take?
When does the giving stop and why?
Maybe you don't know your currency because it's worthless to you.
Maybe you're still trying to figure out what they contribute to your life.... but you're pretty sure it's something.
Maybe we don't know our own value because i t ' s i n v i s i b l e t o u s.
Maybe they've never been told what they can offer.
Maybe we won't EVER know what our valuable gift is because talk is cheap.

Is this new back ground more of a shit purple or a shit brown?
"Dying Swan" (Tutu by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel)
"Swans, they are the meanest animals in the world, you know. I had problems with them as a child. They hate children. I was caught by one, so I know. The idea of swans is lovely, and they have a beautiful shape, but they seem more romantic than they in fact are. I don't think really they die like this. They just drop dead, hmm? But who wants to see that?"
